Prep Report: Baker rolls out more wins

Ida Baker pulled out a pair of wins Wednesday in close boys’ and girls’ matches at Friendship Lanes.

Baker’s boys remain unbeaten at 4-0 by garnering seven team points to five each for Lehigh and North Fort Myers. For the girls, Baker earned eight points to edge North Fort Myers (7) and Lehigh (2). It is the first two wins of the season for Baker.

Taylor France and Eric Ryan led the Bulldogs with traditional 10-frame scores of 187 and 181, respectively.

The girls’ match was not decided until the 10th frame of the fourth Baker format game, which enabled the Bulldogs to clip the Red Knights by a single point.

Cassidy Fitch and Hannah Harvel led the Bulldogs in the traditional game with 136 and 120, respectively.

Baker takes on Island Coast and South Fort Myers next Wednesday at Gator Lanes while North takes on Fort Myers at All Star Lanes.

At All Star Lanes: Island Coast remains undefeated at 3-0 in the first varsity bowling season after rolling over Cape Coral and Dunbar in girls’ and boys’ matches Wednesday.

The Gators accumulated the maximum 12 points to distance themselves from Dunbar (3) and Cape Coral (2) on the boys’ side.

For the girls, the Gators collected 10 points to down Cape Coral (7) and Dunbar (0).

The Gators put their record on the line next Wednesday at Gator Lanes against Ida Baker and South Fort Myers. The Seahawks host Cypress Lake and Lehigh at Coral Lanes.

Volleyball

Ida Baker 3, Dunbar 0: After two straight defeats, Ida Baker got back on the winning track Wednesday with a 25-7, 25-9, 25-11 victory over Dunbar.

Whitney Bennett led the Bulldogs with seven kills while Alicia Emmons added four kills.

The Bulldogs (2-2) host East Lee County Thursday night.

Boys Golf

At Lely Resort: Rain prevented Ida Baker from completing its three-way match Tuesday with Golden Gate and Lely, but the Bulldogs recorded their first two wins with five holes recorded.

Baker was led by Kyle Schulte with an even-par 20, backed by three rounds of 21 by teammates Zach McBride, Anthony Myers and Anthony Montoya.

The Bulldogs’ team total of 83 defeated Lely with 105 and Golden Gate with 117.

The Bulldogs were to make up a postponed match with Cape Coral Wednesday at Palmetto Pine, but the course was too wet from previous rain. The match was rescheduled again for next Wednesday.
