Colonial Blvd. widening closed at night west of I-75 to SR82 beginning Sunday
Colonial Boulevard at the edge of Lehigh Acres will be closed in stages to all traffic through the overnight hours Sunday east and west of I-75 to erect sign truss structures over the roadway and perform scheduled paving operations along Colonial Boulevard and I-75 ramps at Colonial, said Sarah Clarke, a spokeswoman with the Lee county Dept. of Transportation.
The prime contractor for Colonial Boulevard widening project will perform the following closures consecutively:
Beginning Sunday, September 11, 2011, night at 11 p.m., Colonial Boulevard will be closed from west of I-75 to Ortiz Ave./Six Mile Cypress Parkway to erect the overhead sign truss structure across Colonial Boulevard. In conjunction with this road closure, the northbound and southbound I-75 on ramps and the southbound off ramp on the west side of I-75 will be closed due to paving operations. This work is expected to take two nights; Sunday and Monday weather permitting, Clarke said.
Beginning Tuesday, September 13night at 11 p.m., Colonial Boulevard will be closed from east of I-75 to Forum Boulevard. In conjunction with this road closure, the northbound on and off ramps on the east side of I-75 will be closed due to paving operations. This work is expected to take two nights, Tuesday and Wednesday weather permitting, Clarke said.
Detour routes will be posted in advance. Off Duty law enforcement will be utilized to enhance special detour during these scheduled operations. Plan alternate routes during this scheduled night work, Clarke said.
She noted that this schedule may change due to inclement weather or other unforeseen conditions.
