Unknown neighbor pulls man from house on fire
Early Sunday morning the Lehigh Acres Fire Control and Rescue District responded to a reported single family dwelling fire in the 300 Block of Morgan Circle N., according to Ken Bennett, Lehigh Acres Fire Dept. fire marshal
He said the fire came in at 3:33 a.m.
Upon arrival, fire crews found the owner of the home outside of the structure in the front yard. Based upon information on the scene from the home owner, the quick actions of an unknown neighbor in the community is credited for going inside the house and pulling the owner out of the home before fire district arrived on scene.
Bennett said this local hero remains unknown to the fire district as he had already departed the scene before his name could be gotten.
The fire did an estimated $50,000 in damages to the interior of the home and is believed unintentional as a result of the home owner discarding of hot ashes from an ash tray into a waste basket earlier in the day/evening, Bennett said. The home owner has been temporarily displaced as a result of the fire.
