Church to hold luncheon, games party
St. Anselms Episcopal Church on Joel Blvd and 6th St.in Lehigh Acres will host a luncheon and games party from noon to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 12. Cost is $5 and there will be door prizes. For more information call Salma at 368-2862.
Covered dish lunch set at Community Pool on Oct. 12
The Lehigh Acres Community Pool will welcome autumn with a covered dish luncheon. This event is open to all who bring a dish to share along with daily admission to the pool on Oct. 12. The prices for admission are $2 for seniors, $2.50 for adults, or an annual pass. It’s a chance to socialize with friends, enjoy the outdoors and some great home cooking, says Glenn Pollack, a senior program specialist at the pool.
There is a sign-up sheet at the pool to help reduce duplicate dishes
“Come one, come all, but most importantly come hungry on Wednesday, October 12 at noon sharp at the Lehigh Acres Community Pool,” Pollack said.

Two events to help man with cancer
A yard sale and barbecue will held on Oct. 8 at Olga Park and community Center at 2325 Olga Drive from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. to help a local man who has cancer.
The event is being held to raise money for Brinton Shaddock who has stage 4 cancer. Sarcoma in his leg has metastasized into his lungs. He is known as a loving husband and father of three children, his friends say. Sponsors of the yard sale and barbecue say the family is in need of monetary donations to help with high medical expenses. For more information, call Diane Molloy, chairman of the two events. Medicine Shoppe Flu Clinic scheduled
A flu shot clinic is scheduled at the Medicine Shoppe from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 12. The Medicine Shoppe is at 57 Homestead Rd. N. in the Lehigh Towne Center. Those with Medicare must bring their cards with them. For others, the flu shot vaccine is $30. Also available will be pneumonia vaccine shots for $65.
No appointment is necessary and walk-ins are welcome.
Vaccinations are especially important for people with high risk influenza complications like pregnant women, older adults and those with certain medical conditions.
Next Community Planning workshop is Oct. 22
The next Lehigh Acres Community Plan Workshop is scheduled for Saturday, October 22 from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at the East County Regional Library, 881 Gunnery Road North, Lehigh Acres.
The topic of discussion for this workshop will be “infrastructure.”
‘Steak Out’ planned Oct. 8 at Legion
American Legion 323 Riders will hold a “Steak Out” on October 8, from 5 to 7 p.m. The dinner will include New York Strip (cooked to order), baked potato, salad, roll and butter. The cost will be $12. Tickets are on sale now at the Post Lounge.
Riders complete many projects during the year, cleaning roads, Toys for Tots, school supplies, Girl and Boy State, plus their own programs required by the American Legion.
Music that evening will be provided by Songs by “U” beginning at 7:30 p.m.

General Women’s Club to hold annual luncheon
The General Women’s Club of Lehigh Acres will hold its annual luncheon card party and game day on Saturday, Oct. 29 at 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church at 705 Leeland Heights Blvd in Lehigh.
