Jerome “Jerry” L. Pohl, 78, of Lehigh Acres and formerly of Dayton, Ohio, died Oct. 2, 2011 after a long illness. Born in Clinton, Ind., he was the son of the late Joseph and Anna (Morgan) Pohl.

He worked as a tool and die maker for H & H Industries in Dayton, Ohio, and also MTC Manufacturing Co., also in Dayton. He retired from MTC and moved to Lehigh Acres with his wife, Florence “Clemmie” Pohl. They were married for 58 years.

He served in the Marine Corps and was a member of the Lehigh Acres American Legion. He enjoyed golfing and fishing and spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by a son, Michael Pohl of Urbana, Ohio.

In addition to his wife, Clemmie, he is also survived by three children, Sheila Pohl Shaw (Frank) of Lehigh Acres; David Pohl of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Patricia Pohl Herbert (Edward) of Lehigh Acres.

Also surviving is one brother, Joseph Pohl of Las Vegas, Nev.; and two sisters, Joann Pohl Balke of Dayton, Ohio; and Kathryn Pohl King of Waynesville, Ohio.

There are eight surviving grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Dec. 10, 2011 at the Harvey-Englehardt Funeral and Crematory in Fort Myers with the time to be announced later.

On Dec. 12, full military honors will be held at the National Cemetery in Sarasota, Fla.
