Oktoberfest set at Fountain Crest

Fountain Crest Retirement Community at 1230 Taylor Lane Extended will hold an Oktoberfest celebration on Tuesday, Oct. 18 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. and senior citizens in the community are invited to come and enjoy the celebration which includes refreshments, a tour of the complex and the amnesties offered to those who become residents.
The beautiful complex that sits back from Taylor Lane has plenty of parking for its residents and there are 94 apartments with only a few available now for occupancy.
If you’re 50 or older, you’re considered a senior citizen in Lehigh.
Denis Stuckey, the marketing director, who has been at Fountain Crest for four years, says she is excited about the Oktoberfest celebration and will be on hand along with other members of the staff to show off what they think may be the best kept secret in senior living in Lehigh Acres.
The Oktoberfest is the second such annual event at Fountain Crest and they plan to continue the celebration every year.

Also on hand to welcome guests and show them around will be Sally Carmen, Fountain Crest executive director, and Debbie Whiteaker, activities director.
“We have got some of the best looking apartments anywhere and we have different floor plans, both one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments.
“What great here is that one rent payment each month takes care of everything, all the expenses except for a landline or a cell phone.
“You can’t beat that,” Stuckey said.
“That means meals, electricity, transportation needs and cable TV,” she said.

“We also have a movie theater in the complex where we show top rated films twice a week. Our dining room is beautiful and airy and we have great food.”
Stuckey said resident services for those who are 50 and older include all-day dining (three meals daily), weekly housekeeping, paid utilities except for phone, basic cable TV, individually controlled heating and air-conditioning, a variety of activities and social gatherings, an on-site barber and beauty salon, complimentary laundry facilities, and scheduled transportation to activities, medical appointments and shopping.
“We even have our own well stocked library, a billiard and gaming room, a heated swimming pool and fitness room and for those who love to surf the Internet and email friends and family, we have our own computer lab,” Stuckey said.
The three-story complex was built only a few years ago in downtown Lehigh, yet far enough away from the noise on Homestead Rd. Many residents walk or ride bikes for exercise.
“Debbie Whiteaker, who is the activities director, comes up with lots of fun things to do and we have a nice bus to transport people anywhere they want to go in the Lehigh community,” Stuckey said.

Fountain Crest is so popular in the community that many organizations use their facilities for meetings and other activities.
“We are glad to have them, they are part of the community and it is a great experience for them to meet our residents,” Stuckey said.
“You want to learn about “sittercise” exercises (doing exercise while sitting in a chair), then this is the place to come. We have line dancing and we have yoga-tai-chi that’s an ancient Chinese form of exercise,” she said.
“We’re going to have decorations all over the complex in celebration of
Oktoberfest. We expect a large crowd and we are asking the public to RSVP and let us know so we can make plans as for food. You can RSVP by calling 239-303-1230 and say you’re coming. It all is free.
You’ll probably get a shiny glossy booklet telling all the great things about Fountain Crest.
“And you may get a gift card inside inviting you to come and stay with them for five days free.
That’s what it says:
“Be our guest. Present this card for a free stay with us.”
It is a one-stay per person but the aim is for people to see for themselves how Fountain Crest’s caring staff and exceptional services will enrich their lifestyles.
“It’s going to be fun, really fun and a nice afternoon,” Stuckey said.
