The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating an accident Sunday afternoon that claimed the life of Dorothy Ludwig, 84, of Lehigh Acres. Police said the woman died in a two-car crash at Leeland Heights Blvd. and California Rd.

She was a passenger in a car driven by 87-year-old Fredrick Daniel Ludwig, who received minor injuries in the accident.

Police said Ludwig was driving south on Leeland Heights Blvd. when he drove into the path of a 1995 Nissan driven by a 25-year-old man. Police said the driver attempted to stop and swerved to the right of Ludwig.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the front end of Ludwig’s car, crashed into the right side of the Nissan and Ludwig’s car hit a utility pole.

The driver of the Nissan was taken to Lehigh Regional Medical Center.
