The Lee County Sheriff’s Office today said that on Friday, November 4, at 5:38 p.m. deputies responded to a traffic crash involving two vehicles on SR82 just west of Wildcat Drive.

Traffic homicide investigators responded to the scene to investigate.

Their investigation revealed a 1987 black Mercedes Benz, driven by Frank Legrand, 57, was traveling west on SR82 and a 2009 red Chevrolet Traverse was traveling east. The Mercedes attempted to pass a vehicle and ran into the Chevrolet, investigators said. The driver of the Chevrolet was identified as Reyna Hernandez, 26, of 719 Columbus Boulevard S. in Lehigh Acres.

Legrand died at the scene and Hernandez was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital to be treated for her injuries, investigators said. There were no other passengers in either vehicle.
