Investigators need help in solving double homicide Saturday
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating what authorities are calling a double homicide that occurred Saturday, Nov. 12. Lt. Larry King, public information officer with the Sheriff’s Office, said deputies were dispatched at around 6:21 a.m. to a medical assistance call after a passerby found an adult male lying in the grass just off the sidewalk along the south side of Pondella Rd. across from the intersection of Landsdale Drive. EMS arrived on scene and pronounced the adult male deceased, he said.
Deputies soon discovered the body of a second adult male behind the closed businesses. As a result, Pondella Road remained closed between Barrett Road and Sabal Gardens Drive during the investigation.
Homicide detectives with the Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit are conducting the investigation. Crime scene investigators with the Forensics Unit arrived to document and collect evidence, too. The District 21 Medical Examiner will perform autopsies to confirm causes of death. Detectives are continuing efforts to positively identify the two men, King said.
King asked for anyone who may have information on this violent felony crime to call the Lee County Sheriff’s Office at (239) 477-1000 or, to remain anonymous and be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000, Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS.
