The Edison Festival of Light Board of Directors is providing Southwest Florida with the opportunity to nominate one lucky person to receive recognition for all the good they do in the community by riding in the Edison Festival of Light parades as honorary grand marshal. Nominating a local hero is simple. Visit www.edisonfestival.org home page for the nomination form. The nominee is someone who:

1. Gives back to our community on a regular basis

2. Deserves credit for their good deeds but doesn’t always receive it

3. Is an inspiration toward making our community a better place to live

Deadline for all nomination entries is December 15, 2011.

Finalists will be posted on the Edison Festival of Light Web site in January. Through January 21, the Southwest Florida community will be able to cast their vote for their favorite nominee. The honorary grand marshal will be announced at the Florida Power and Light, Edison Day of Discovery at Florida Gulf Coast University on January 14, 2012, said Karen Ryan, a spokeswoman with LCEC.

As a tribute to their commitment to the community, the winner will earn a seat as the honorary “My Choice” grand marshal for the Edison Festival of Light Junior Parade on February 12, and the Edison Festival of Light Grand Parade on February 18. The winner will also receive two VIP passes to the Grand Parade.
