Patricia L. Weir arrested
A Lehigh Acres woman is under arrest and has been accused of using an elderly neighbor’s credit card, to pay off her own electric bills.
Patricia L Weir, 60, of 1414 Archer St, Lehigh has been charged with fraudulent use of a credit card and grand theft from a person 65 years or older.
The investigation began after the victim noticed several unusual transactions on her credit card when she received the billing statement, Sheriff’s officials said.
She filed a report with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office for the unauthorized charges. Detectives with the Economic Crimes Unit conducted a comprehensive investigation and discovered the victim’s credit card was being used by her neighbor, Patricia L. Weir. Detectives obtained supporting documents showing that Weir paid several electric bills using the victim’s credit card without her authorization. The bills totaled $744.50, officials said.
In May of this year, Stacy Giroux, 36, was arrested after using this elderly victim’s credit card, to pay off her bills to LCEC, Geico Insurance, AT&T and Dish Network. In this case there were a total of 28 deductions dating back to October 2010. The total deductions amounted to $6,579.40, authorities said.
