Dorothy J. Abernathy

Dorothy J. Abernathy, 82, of Lehigh Acres, died Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at Hope Hospice in Lehigh.

She was born in Michigan on August 19, 1929 and moved to Florida in 1971 with her husband, Billy.

She worked as the manager for Lehigh Elementary School Food Services for 20 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy, and her son, Gary.

She is survived by her children, Helen (Lloyd) Roenfeldt, Joyce Stoner and Bill (Giselle) Abernathy; her grandchildren, Wayne Steinard, Carrie (Dale) Miller, Gretel Roenfeldt and Lloyd Roenfeldt; and four great grandchildren.

A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 23, 2012 at Hodges Funeral Home at lee Memorial Park, 12777 SR82 in Fort Myers.

Entombment will follow in Lee Memorial Park Cemetery.
