Sidney H. Brown Jr.

Sidney Hall Brown Jr., 81, of Lehigh Acres, passed away surrounded by his family on March 10, 2012. He was born February 2, 1931 in Folkston, Ga., to the late Mildred L. and Sidney Hall Brown Sr. He was a member of Richmond Avenue Baptist Church.

He was known as Sid to his friends. He was raised in Ochopee, Fla., and graduated from Everglades High School in Everglades City. He served in the U.S. Air Force for four years. Shortly upon his return from the service he became employed with the Bank of Everglades in Everglades City. When Hurricane Donna destroyed the Bank of Everglades he followed them to the First Bank of Immokalee in Immokalee, and retired from First Bank of Immokalee/ Florida Community Bank after 37 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 323.

He is survived by his wife, Anna Ledger, his three children, Joni Cyd Adams, Jennifer Beulah (Edward) Forsell and Joe Hall (Ann) Brown, sister, Carnie Jane Seymour, nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Jo Brown in 1999, his mother, Mildred L. Brown in 1989 and his father, Sidney Hall Brown Sr. in 1981.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. in the Richmond Avenue Baptist Church, 304 North Richmond Avenue, Lehigh Acres, with Rev. David Soden officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Hodges Funeral Home at Lee Memorial Park.
