Twins to host spring blood drive
Every year the Minnesota Twins come to Fort Myers for their spring training, but during their short stay, they want to do a bit more than just play baseball.
This year, once again, the Twins will host a blood drive during one of their spring training games as part of the organization’s effort to help boost the local blood supply.
Registered donors will receive a special edition “I Bleed Navy and Red” T-shirt with the Minnesota Twins logo.
The drive will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, March 22, at the Lee County Sports Complex, at 14100 Ben C. Pratt/Six Mile Cypress Parkway, Fort Myers.
The Big Red Bus will be onsite taking blood donations to ensure that local hospitals have a safe and reliable blood supply.
FBC is in need of donations for all blood types. Just one donation can save three lives because it is separated into components – red blood cells, plasma and platelets.
Each donation will likely be transfused into a patient within 48 to 72 hours.
