Lehigh man dies after motorcycle crash

The traffic crash victim Robert Harry Borkert Jr. has succumbed to his injuries. The investigation is on going as alcohol may have been a factor in the crash, according to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.

A 62-year- old Lehigh Acres man is in critical condition after crashing his motorcycle on Gunnery Road Tuesday night. Robert Harry Borkert Jr. 63, of 108 Edward Avenue was transported to the Trauma Center at Lee Memorial Hospital.
The crash was reported to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office at 10:08 p.m. Due to the nature of the incident, an investigator with the Sheriffs Office Traffic Unit was assigned to investigate, officials said.
Borkert was traveling south on Gunnery Road near Centennial Boulevard when the 2002 Harley Davidson motorcycle he was operating left the roadway and entered the bordering ditch, sheriff’s investigators said. The impact caused the motorcycle to rollover causing serious bodily injury to Borkert.
