School band to perform at baseball game
The Lehigh Acres Middle School All-Star Band will be performing the national anthem at Hammond Stadium for the Fort Myers Miracle Professional Baseball Team. Their performance is part of Lee County’s Education Day, during which local schools are invited to bring students to the ball park to experience a real live baseball game. The game will be held Monday, May 7, at 10:30 a.m.
YMCA hosting Healthy Kids Day
The Fort Myers YMCA is hosting it annual free Healthy Kids Day event Saturday, April 28, at Tanglewood Elementary, at 1620 Manchester Blvd. in Fort Myers. The free event includes appearances by athletes from the arena football league’s Florida Tarpon.
Families are invited to spend the morning from 9 a.m. to noon with the YMCA, exploring summer camp opportunities and taking part in fun fitness activities and healthy snacks. The first 500 children will receive a fitness gift and all guests will be entered to win a summer membership to the Y and a free week of summer camp.
Activities include:
– YMCA Summer Camp Zone
– Karate demonstrations
– Dance performances
– Obstacle course with tug-of-war challenge
– Face painting
– Zumba classes
– Children’s fingerprinting
– Photos with athletes from the Florida Tarpons
– Free healthy foods and snacks
