We need to save Oak Hammock Park sinkhole
To the Editor:
I have written Lee County Commissioner Ray Judah to ask what help he needs from our various One Voice groups to help the 20/20 purchase of the sinkhole/ Oak Hammock Park on Joel Boulevard near the Lehigh Resort Club, so it can never be developed.
This is a huge asset to Lehigh Acres, as well as Lee County, the state and is a national treasure. I believe he said his meeting is with 20/20 on April 17. I have asked him to send me details.
Do we need to contact the other commissioners, State/House Reps, etc.?
Do we need to contact Andrew McElwayne with SWF Conservancy, or Karen Mcguire, SR/WA?
I know Lee County Planners (Ebaugh and Noble) want to see this owned by 20/20 and it should be part of the Lehigh Redevelopment Plan. If 20/20 does not take this over, they need to take “stewardship and preserves” off their website.
I think it consists of 19.949 Acres, a portion of Section 34, Township 44 South, Range 27 East with entrance off Joel Boulevard. I wish it could come under ECWCD or SFWMD to get them to assist.
