LCSO: Accident in Lehigh

At 3:19 p.m. July 3, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a vehicle verses pedestrian crash at Leeland Heights Boulevard and Richman Avenue.

Deputies responded to the scene. Upon arrival deputies discovered the driver of a 2006 Chevy HHR struck pedestrians in the street away from the designated crosswalk.

Two of the pedestrians were transported to Lee Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.

Due to the nature of the incident, deputies with the LCSO Traffic Unit were assigned to continue the investigation.

Preliminary information reveals the driver, Susan B. Tanzer, 47, of 1215 Wells Ave., was traveling eastbound on Leeland Heights. Tanzer tried to stop the when she noticed the pedestrian not in the crosswalk.

The pedestrians involved in the crash were Bessie R. Bivins, 23, of 145 Riverview, Fort Myers, along with Tiana Davis, 3, and Diamond Princess Davis, 4.

Both juveniles were transported to Lee Memorial Hospital.
