Raymond ‘Bud’ D. Scannell

Raymond “Bud” D. Scannell, 86, of Lehigh Acres, died Friday, Sept. 6, 2013 at his home. He was born in Teaneck, N.J.

A resident of Lehigh since 1971, he was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lehigh for 42 years and retired from the Fort Myers News-Press as a journeyman pressman.

He and his wife were actively involved in the community while his children were growing up and played in a 50-plus softball league for 20 years.

He will be greatly missed by all his loved ones and friends. He is with our Lord and playing baseball from above.

He was a loving husband and is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marion Scannell; son, Buddy Scannell of Buckingham; daughter, Kim Scannell of Lehigh; grandchildren, Danny, Chris, Jessica, Brian, Brandi, Josey and Tyler; and great-grandchildren, Kyson and soon-to-be-born Jocelyn.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother; and son, Clint Scannell.

A service to celebrate his life was held Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013, at the First Baptist Church.
