Arrest made in Lehigh shooting

On Sept. 27, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office arrested and charged Michael Quenton Turner, 18, of 3210 W. Eighth St., in connection to a shooting the day before.

Turner is charged with aggravated battery, marijuana possession with intent to sell, drug possession controlled substance with out prescription and drug equipment possession.

At 2:06 p.m. Sept. 26, the LCSO responded to a 911 call at 3310 Seventh St. W. in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, deputies found a female juvenile suffering from a gunshot wound to her lower leg.

The victim was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital as result of her injuries.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was on her way home from the bus stop and sustained the non-life-threatening gunshot wound. A perimeter was established by responding deputies.

Due to the nature of the incident, LCSO?detectives responded and assumed the investigation.

Officials believe that the shooting was an isolated incident and not a random targeting of children at bus stops.

Detectives are investigating further for more background and motive in this incident.
