Dixie E. Gerding

Dixie E. Gerding, 92, of Lehigh Acres and formerly of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, died Tuesday, May 27, 2014. She was born Aug. 20, 1921, in Ludlow, Kentucky, to William A. and Lucy (Zeysing) Thompson.

She graduated from Sadieville High School in Kentucky. She later married Robert F. Gerding and was the mother of four children.

She was involved in the Women’s Missionary Society and a member of the Ebenezer Bible Fellowship Church in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

She was a loving wife, mother, granny and aunt. She will be truly missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Robert F. Gerding; sons, Wayne (Penney) Gerding of Waddy, Kentucky, and Larry (Ruthie) Gerding of Pleasant Gap, Pennsylvania; daughters, Diane (Damon) Shelor of Lehigh Acres and Darlene (David) Nemeth of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Heather Gerding, Kelly Shelor, Lisa (Scott) Hadley, Melissa Nemeth, Brian Nemeth, Tabatha (Steve) Bennett and Scott Jordon; great-grandchildren, Kyle and Whitney Bennett; and nephew, Kent (Cheryl) Mays.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister and brother-in-law, Thelma (Roy) Mays; and nephew, Roy Mays III.

A memorial service was held Thursday, May 29, 2014, at the Anderson-Patterson Cremation and Funeral Services, with Larry Gutridge officiating. Memorial services and inurnment will also take place at a later date in Bethlehem Memorial Park in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
