Traffic fatality reported in Lehigh

By Staff | Jul 2, 2014

At 5:57 p.m. June 29, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a single-vehicle crash at Homestead Road and Kimdale Street.

Paramedics arrived on scene and pronounced the driver, Owen Thomas McGreevy, 19, deceased on scene.

A traffic homicide investigation was conducted and revealed the following facts:

McGreevy left this place of employment – Pizza Hut on Homestead Road – to deliver pizzas. He was travelling in his 2001 Oldsmobile when he attempted to negotiate a right curve at a high rate of speed.

McGreevy lost control of his vehicle, causing it to exit the roadway in a northwesterly direction of travel. The Oldsmobile then struck a tree, head on.

McGreevy, who was properly restrained, sustained fatal injuries.

Speed was a contributing factor in the crash, but impairment was not, officials said.
