A Lehigh Acres man died on July 4 from injuries he received in a accident the day before.

The Florida High Patrol said Patrick Scott Butz, 43, of Lehigh, was traveling south on Ben Hill Griffin Parkway approaching Miromar Lakes Blvd. East on July 3 at around 7:35 a.m.within the outside lane.

Butz failed to maintain control of his vehicle and as a result ended up in the grass-covered median.

Trooper John Schultz said Butz’s vehicle collided with a utility pole and tree and continued to move south coming to a final rest upon the northbound lanes of Ben Hill Griffin Parkway.

He said prior to his vehicle coming to a final rest, Butz was ejected from his vehicle coming to a final rest on the northbound east shoulder of Ben Hill Griffin Parkway.

He was transported to Lee Memorial hospital where he died on July 4.
