Home-Tech sponsors Habitat home

Home-Tech has been working hard to complete a Habitat home in Lehigh Acres for Clendy Young and her 1-year-old-son.

Home-Tech sponsored the home and employees volunteered more than 125 hours to complete the project, with 21 of its employees working side-by-side to make it happen.

The newly-constructed home will provide privacy and space for the Young family, which had been living in a three-bedroom, one-bathroom house occupied by seven individuals.

Young said the space was cramped and was not providing the stability her family needed.

The low monthly payments of her 0 percent mortgage will now allow Young to save for her son’s future, while being able to sustain their daily living expenses and help them get closer to becoming debt free.

Young and her son will receive the keys to their Habitat home during a dedication ceremony July 17, hosted by Habitat for Humanity of Lee and Hendry Counties and Home-Tech.

The new home is the 15th sponsored by Home-Tech through Habitat for Humanity of Lee and Hendry Counties.

Home-Tech has donated $681,706 to Habitat and continues to invest in the mission of bringing people together to build homes, communities and hope.

Through the use of volunteer labor and donations of materials and money, Habitat provides affordable homes for qualified, low-income families.

Partner families must save $1,700 toward closing costs; attend classes focusing on successful homeownership, budgeting and home maintenance; and 300 “sweat equity” volunteer hours.

Homeowners also pay a 0 percent interest mortgage, with payments set at 30 percent or less of their income, making homeownership an affordable reality.
