By Staff | Sep 24, 2014

Bruce Boyd

A Lehigh Acres man, who has been active in Lehigh for several years and has also been active with the local Kiwanis Club, has been installed as Division 19 Florida Kiwanis Foundation Trustee.

This distinct honor will mean that he will serve alongside 26 other trustees throughout the Florida District.

The Florida Kiwanis Foundation is the fundraising entity of the Florida District of Individual Kiwanis International with the objective to provide an endowment fund to which clubs and individual Kiwanis members can contribute gifts and bequeaths.

Bruce Boyd was one of many in the Lee County and LaBelle area clubs that recently attended the 97th annual Florida District Convention in Boca Raton.

Boyd said he has been a member and associated with Kiwanis ever since he was in the Kiwanis – supported Key Club in high school in Charlotte, N.C.

“I was happy to be one of the trustees appointed,” he said.

Boyd noted that the Lehigh club has “58 or 59” members and is always looking for new members.

He said anyone who is interested can contact him at 239-369-3775 or the local club’s incoming president, Jerry Carrick. Carrick’s number is 239-369-8216.

Boyd will be 76 in November. Carrick will be installed as the new president in October.

The Florida District of Kiwanis, which covers Florida and the Cayman Islands, has some 9,000 members in 270 active clubs.

Some 24 Kiwanis members went to the convention to represent the 13 clubs in this area.

Two other area Kiwanians were recognized for their achievements at the convention – Patrice Cunningham and Robert Jarrett. Donna Williamson was inducted as the 2014-2015 Division 19.

Cunningham is a member of the Fort Myers metro-McGregor Kiwanis Club and was awarded the 2013-2014 Florida District chair for her work as social media chairman. Jarrett is a member of the Kiwanis Club of Fort Myers Beach and was recognized for meeting the 2012-2013 Kiwanis International President’s Challenge.

From Cape Coral Harney Point Kiwanis Club, Williamson was installed to serve as the 2014-15 Division 19 lieutenant governor on the statewide board of the Kiwanis.

Changing the world one child and one community at a time is a mission of Kiwanis, which is a global organization of volunteers.
