Olive Winifred Turner
Olive Winifred Turner, 95, of Lehigh Acres, FL passed away peacefully on Wed., October 22, 2014. She was born in British Guyana, South America the daughter of a physician, Dr. Joshua Nedd and his wife, Rose Winifred Nedd on April 2, 1919. Olive was always spunky and strong-willed ever since she was a child. She moved to Trinidad and Tobago at an early age where she met the great love of her life and they had one child together.
Olive had a strong faith in God and always knew which prayer or scripture would apply in order to lift a person’s spirit as they were going through life’s trials. She held many positions over the years and had a strong work ethic. When her sense of adventure led her to move to the United States, she worked as a cook in a hospital in Cambridge, MD. Her ability to whip up a tasty meal will be remembered by all. When the family moved to Florida she worked in Publix where she enjoyed meeting new people.
Olive had a charismatic, wry sense of humor and her quick wit, which was seemingly effortless, made people laugh. Olive enjoyed listening to music and loved to dance. In Trinidad, in her younger years, she was known as “The Charleston Queen”. Olive was dedicated to her family and they, along with all those whose lives she touched, will dearly miss spending time with her. She was also an avid gardener. The last shrub she planted for her daughter, a bright yellow hibiscus bush, is currently in full bloom!
Olive is survived by her daughter, Janice Doyle and son-in-law, Vincent of Lehigh Acres, FL; her three granddaughters: Alicia, Roanne and Nichole; her sister, Rose; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Jose Clatis DeLisle; her brother, John Stephen and her sister, Dorothy.
Funeral services will be held privately by the family at a later date. Please visit www.andersonpatterson.com to express condolences to the family by signing Olive’s guest book.
