LCSO: Deputy involved shooting in Lehigh Acres

At 2:47 a.m. Oct. 26, a Lee County Sheriff’s Office deputy was conducting an investigation at the Hess station, at 5551 Lee Blvd.
During the investigation, the deputy came into contact with William Timothy Brooks, 26, of 2448 Park Road.
Brooks fled in a motor vehicle and rammed a second deputy, who was entering the parking lot to assist the first deputy. Brooks then put his vehicle in reverse and drove at the first deputy.
During the confrontation, shots were fired by one of the deputies. No one was injured by gun fire.
Deputies were able to stop Brooks and take him into custody after a second collision.
The Major Crimes Unit responded to the scene and assumed the investigation, which is still ongoing.
Brooks was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and one count each of operating a motor vehicle with a revoked driver’s license, leaving the scene of a traffic crash with an unattended vehicle and leaving the scene of a traffic crash.
He was additionally charged with two counts of child neglect for exposing two young children in his vehicle to danger.
Brooks is a convicted felon with several arrests in Lee County. He was recently released from prison for burglary charges.
The two deputies involved in the incident have been placed on administrative leave with pay, which is a standard procedure.
