Motorcyclist critically injured in early morning crash
A motorcycle accident Thursday morning in Cape Coral left one person hospitalized.
At about 1:56 a.m., a Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Archer Parkway, driven by William Warren Lewis Jr., 25. In the 100 block, he attempted to negotiate a left curve in the road.
According to the Cape police, Lewis was traveling at a high rate of speed and failed to negotiate the curve. The motorcycle drove off of the road and into the yard of a home at 1028 Archer Parkway. The motorcycle continued to head east until it overturned in the front yard and Lewis was ejected.
Both traveled eastbound further, entering the yard of a home at 1032 Archer Parkway. Lewis then crossed the driveway, where he struck the right front bumper of a parked, Ford F-250 truck.
He and the motorcycle came to rest in the front yard of the home, police reported.
Lewis sustained life-threatening injuries as a result of the accident and was trauma-alerted to Lee Memorial Hospital, according to officials. As of Thursday, he was listed in critical condition.
He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
Police reported that the accident is alcohol or drug related.
The investigation is ongoing.
