Lehigh resident takes part in Odd Fellows annual ceremony

Lehigh Acres resident Lady Ada M. Thompson, past president of the Department Association’s Ladies Auxiliary Patriarch Militant of Florida, recently met with Brigadier General Barbara Rogers, chaplain of the Military Council’s Patriarch Militant of the World.
Thompson represented the International Officers at the Annual Pilgrimage to the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell as a member of the Florida Independent Order of Odd Fellows. It annually honors all veterans at the National Cemetery. The Militant Branch of the IOOF hosted the event.
Flags presented were the American flag, the state flag of Florida, the IOOF flag, the Rebekah flag, the grand encampment flag and the patriarch militant flag.
Wreaths were presented and tributes given in honor of deceased members from the Honor the Veterans Committee, Sovereign Grand Lodge, International Association of Rebekah Assemblies, Grand Lodge of Florida, Rebekah Assembly of Florida, the Grand Encampment of Florida and the Department Council.
Thompson was an escort for the grand encampment.
Introduction of and speeches by the heads of all the branches of the order.
Following the firing salute and “Taps” by the USMC League Honor Guard, the benediction was offered by Thompson.
