Student charged with sending threat to school through social media
Shawn Baxter
Shawn Baxter, 17, of 2743 Davis Blvd., Fort Myers, was recently arrested and charged with intimidation/write send threat to kill or injure.
On Nov. 10, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Youth Services Division was contacted by Riverdale High School in reference to a threat that was being posted on the school’s Instagram account.
The post was very vulgar in nature and stated that the person would shoot up the school on Wednesday and kill everyone.
During the investigation, the I.P. address of the user that sent the threat was found at 2743 Davis Blvd., Fort Myers, which also happens to be Shawn’s address.
Detectives responded to the address and contact was made with the homeowner, Baxter’s mother. Baxter invited detectives onto her covered patio area and gave authorization for detectives to conduct a non-custodial interview of Shawn.
Interviews were conducted and detectives found probable cause to take Shawn into custody. He was then taken to the Lee County Juvenile Assessment Center.
