Arrest warrant issued for one home invasion robber
Johnny Wade
One of the suspects in the Nov. 25 home invasion robbery in Lehigh Acres has been identified.
After following up on an anonymous tip, detectives located the vehicle sought in connection with the crime and subsequently identified one of the men responsible.
A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Johnny Wade, 25, on the charge of home invasion robbery with a firearm.
Detectives believe Wade was the suspect who pointed a gun at the victim and threatened to kill her. He is believed to be armed with at least two firearms, including a revolver and a semi-automatic.
Wade has a criminal history, which extends back to his teenage years. His first felony arrest was for burglary and grand theft auto at age 15. Two weeks after that arrest, he was jailed again for yet another grand theft auto.
He continued his life of crime at age 16, when he was incarcerated for burglary and larceny theft. Wade’s most recent arrest was last week for failing to show up in court on a misdemeanor charge.
“Crime Stoppers appreciates the public’s assistance in helping detectives identify a violent offender and now we’re reaching out again to help track Johnny Wade down,” Trish Routte, coordinator for Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers, said. “Given that he’s armed and clearly dangerous, there is an immediate need to find him and relocate him to the secure surroundings of a jail cell where he can’t hurt or threaten anyone else.”
Shortly after 2 p.m. Nov. 25, an unknown black man approached a residence on Southwest 12th Street, inquiring about the whereabouts of an individual.
Upon learning that he was not there, the male left but returned several minutes later with a second black man, who proceeded to kick through the front door.
Both men forced their way into the home and ordered the victim at gunpoint to face the wall, while they ransacked the house.
One suspect was armed with two black handguns, one of which had an extended magazine. The men demanded cash and got away with two cell phones and the keys to the victim’s car.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Wade, or the identity of the second suspect, is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 780-TIPS (8477).
All callers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
