Holiday closures set for Lee County

Most Lee County offices will be closed Dec. 25-26 and Jan. 1-2 in observance of the Christmas and New Year’s holidays.

The following are specific closure schedules for LeeTran, Library System, Parks and Recreation, and Solid Waste.

LeeTran

– Christmas Eve: Bus service will end by 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 24. To find the exact end time for each route, visit: www.rideleetran.com.

– Christmas Day: No bus service

– New Year’s Eve:

– Normal bus service

– Trolley service on Fort Myers Beach and in downtown Fort Myers extended until 2 a.m.

– River District Trolley will operate on Edwards Avenue instead of First Street because of street closings.

– New Year’s Day:

– No mainland bus service

– Fort Myers Beach trolley will operate from 6:10 a.m. until 10:15 p.m.

– Park and Ride Trolley from Summerlin Square to the beach will run from 6:25 a.m. to 10:45 p.m.

– All service will return to normal on Jan. 2.

Library System

– Lee County Libraries will close at 5 p.m. on Dec. 24 and Dec. 31. Libraries will be closed Dec. 25-26 and Jan. 1-2. Libraries will resume regular hours on Dec. 27 and Jan. 3.

Parks and Recreation

– Lee County Parks and Recreation parks and preserves remain open, but offices and recreation centers are closed Dec. 25-26 and Jan. 1-2.

– All offices, centers, parks and preserves will be open Dec. 24 and Dec. 31, except the following recreation centers, which will be closed for gym floor maintenance:

– Estero Recreation Center: Closed Dec. 20-Jan. 3

– North Fort Myers Recreation Center: Closed Dec. 20-Jan. 4

– Veterans Park Recreation Center: Closed Dec. 19-Jan. 5

– Wa-Ke Hatchee Recreation Center: Closed Dec. 19-Jan. 4

Solid Waste

– No trash, recycling or horticulture collections on Dec. 25 or Jan. 1.

– Thursday’s collections will take place on Friday, Dec. 26 and Jan. 2.

– Friday’s collections will take place on Saturday, Dec. 27 and Jan. 3.

– Normal collection schedules resume on Monday, Dec. 29 and Jan. 5.

– Offices including the Topaz Facility are closed Dec. 25-26, and Jan. 1-2. The Topaz Facility will be open from 8 a.m. to noon on Jan. 3 to accept household chemical waste.
