Authorities: Lehigh man arrested by U.S. marshals

A Lehigh Acres man has been arrested on an attempted murder suspect in Lehigh Acres. He was wanted for a carjacking.

Brian Patterson, 19, was charged at about 5:10 p.m. Dec. 23 at 2806 35th St. SW, according to the U.S. Marshals.

On Dec. 18, Patterson was accused of opening fire in the parking lot of a 7-Eleven store along Ortiz Avenue in Fort Myers. A half hour later, Fort Myers police went to a RaceTrac gasoline station and talked with a man who said someone tried to carjack him.

According to a report, the witness said Patterson hit him with a handgun and demanded his vehicle. Patterson, allegedly fired a round at the man but missed and the victim fled in his Jeep, which Patterson shot at multiple times.

The victim called police from the RaceTrac after losing Patterson.

The Fire Myers Police Department asked for help from the public in the search for Patterson, of Fort Myers, who was wanted for attempted murder stemming from a violent attempted carjacking.

The victim met with detectives and through the investigation, Patterson was identified.

Police said Patterson was a convicted felon with a violent past and was armed and dangerous.
