The Lee County Sheriff’s Office has reported that a Lehigh Acres man died just after midnight on Christmas Day in a crash on Lee Boulevard near Douglas Avenue.

In a report, it was noted that witnesses said a car, driven by Eduardo Rodriguez, 50, was traveling west on Lee at a high rate of speed when it left the road, jumped a curb and struck a large steel sign.

The road was wet at the time of the crash. Rodriguez reportedly was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the vehicle.
