Identification sought in armed robbery at Family Dollar

Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s help identifying a masked gunman who robbed a Family Dollar store at about 7:30 p.m. Jan. 7.

According to detectives, a tall man dressed in black and donning a black ski mask walked into the store at 1111 Homestead Road and approached the cashier.

The man pulled out a black, full-sized semi-automatic pistol and ordered the employee to put all the cash from the register into a bag.

In fear for his life, the cashier complied and the man took off on foot, headed westbound, with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The man is described as 6 feet 2 inches tall, with a thin build.

Anyone with information on the identity of the suspect, or who may have seen anything suspicious, is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 780-TIPS (8477).

All callers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
