Jansen’s work in show
Art Palm Beach will celebrate its 18th year from Jan. 21-25. A 108-by-88 museum-size painting by artist Marcus Jansen, of Lehigh Acres, will hang at the front entrance of the fair. Called “The Encounter,” the piece can also be found in “Artvoices Magazine.”
Nominations open
Lee County Commissioners are seeking exemplary, civic-minded citizens for the 2014 Paulette Burton Citizen of the Year Award.
Nominees should be people who get involved in the community and work diligently for causes in which they believe. The award strives to recognize a citizen who has provided outstanding civic contributions to county government.
The criteria include a positive attitude, knowledge of the objectives and activities of Lee County government, a demonstrated interest in community/county government partnerships and promotion of harmony between the community and county government.
Nomination forms are available at Lee County libraries and recreation centers. Citizens can also complete and submit a form at: www.lee-county.com.
Nominations are due Feb. 13.
Clerk open Feb. 14
The Lee County Clerk of Court’s Recording Office will offer special office hours on Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14, to issue marriage licenses and perform marriage ceremonies and vow renewals.
The office will be open 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the Second Floor at 2115 Second St., Fort Myers.
Wedding ceremonies are held in the Wedding Room and conducted by a deputy clerk. Occupancy is 35 people maximum and the ceremonies are limited to 15 minutes.
Wedding bouquets are available for complimentary use and remain the property of the office.
Legally married couples can renew their vows in the Wedding Room for $30; vow renewals are not legally binding or recorded.
