Millennials: Third of work force

By Staff | Feb 4, 2015

To the editor:

Is this group an important voter block in 2016?

Who is a Millennial? Hopelessly broke young people whose salary does not support their debt load.

Why? There is a stagnation of salaries for college-educated young people. More are going to college but, the education they receive is not aligned with the needs of the economy.

Wages are low, jobs are hard to find and their college debt is very high. Workers in this group have a negative savings rate of 2 percent.

We need to stop hiring overseas workers!

We need to stop shipping our plants and workers overseas.

If possible, we should try to buy American made products.

Inasmuch, as our U.S. Congress, and Obama’s Lame-Duck, can we hope all or some of the help for the middle-income workers will be enacted? Congress’ resistance to Infrastructure bills is just an example of their unwillingness to stimulate any job growth at all.

If not congress, who is going to do what and when to help these people who have done all the right things but are not able to get ahead with the playing field tipped so far against them.
