At 2:59 p.m. Jan. 29, officers from the Fort Myers Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for littering at Veronica Shoemaker Boulevard and Edison Avenue.

Officers were behind a four-door KIA when they observed the front seat passenger, later identified as Lequain Hudson, 21, of Lehigh Acres, throw a cigarette butt outside the window.

Officers conducted a traffic stop for the offense and made contact with Hudson and the other occupants inside the vehicle.

During the course of the investigation officers discovered a fully loaded .380 caliber Smith & Wesson handgun in a duffel bag belonging to Hudson.

Hudson is a convicted felon with several prior felony convictions and a total of 38 bookings in Lee County.

Hudson is also on state probation for a two-year period that began on Feb. 2, 2014, for possession of cocaine.

Hudson was charged with one count each of carrying a concealed firearm and possession of a firearm by convicted felon and two counts of violation of probation.

Hudson was also written a traffic citation for littering.

“As a probationer arrested for a new criminal act, Hudson will be held under the Widman Act pending a review by the sentencing authority,” said Lt. Victor Medico.
