Taking nominations for Paulette Burton award
Lee County Commissioners are seeking exemplary, civic-minded citizens for the 2014 Paulette Burton Citizen of the Year Award.
Nominees should be people who get involved in the community and work diligently for causes in which they believe. The award strives to recognize a citizen who has provided outstanding civic contributions to county government.
The criteria includes a positive attitude, knowledge of the objectives and activities of Lee County government, a demonstrated interest in community/county government partnerships and promotion of harmony between the community and county government.
Nomination forms are available at Lee County libraries and recreation centers. Citizens can also complete and submit a form at: www.lee-county.com.
Nominations are due Feb. 13.
Clerk of Court open for Valentine’s Day
The Lee County Clerk of Court’s Recording Office will be open 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14, to issue marriage licenses and perform marriage ceremonies and vow renewals.
Wedding ceremonies are held in the Wedding Room and conducted by a deputy clerk. Occupancy is 35 people maximum and the ceremonies are limited to 15 minutes. Wedding bouquets are available for use, but remain the property of the office.
Legally married couples can renew their vows in the Wedding Room for $30; vow renewals are not legally binding or recorded.

The Recording Office is at 2115 Second St., Fort Myers.
