Man charged in bank robbery

A Lehigh Acres man, identified by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office as Michael C. Harlowe, 52, faces charges of robbery after he was accused of robbing the Wells Fargo Bank, at 1130 Homestead Road.
The incident took place on Feb. 4 and the LCSO sent deputies to the bank after they were summoned that a robbery had taken place.
It was reported that the middle-aged man was wearing tan clothing and a sombrero type hat. He was described as Hispanic.
Detectives said he gave a note to one of the tellers demanding money. The teller handed him an undisclosed amount of cash in a Wells Fargo envelope.
The suspect fled the area on foot, but did not make it far.
During the search, detectives found a man fitting the suspect’s description and he was detained and questioned.
According to the LCSO, employees of the bank identified the man as the bank robber.
Authorities said the money taken from the bank was located in the man’s pocked, still in the Wells Fargo envelope.
Harlowe resides at 1406 Albermarle Circle.
