At approximately 10:15 a.m. Feb. 11, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office was called to 1036 S. Gunby Ave. Upon arrival, deputies found a white man in the residence lying on his back and unresponsive.

Rescue efforts were not successful and paramedics pronounced the male deceased. He is identified as Gary Helms, 52.

Due to the nature of the case, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit has assumed the investigation, which is ongoing.
