Airport reports January traffic
During January, 854,953 passengers traveled through Southwest Florida International Airport, an increase of 9.9 percent compared to January 2014.
The traffic leader in January was Southwest with 190,870 passengers traveling to and from Fort Myers. Rounding out the top five airlines were Delta (169,760), JetBlue (90,928), US Airways (88,669) and Spirit (87,928).
Southwest Florida International Airport had 8,434 aircraft movements – takeoffs and landings – an increase of 7.3 percent compared to January 2014. Page Field saw 8,805 movements, an 8.9 percent increase from January 2014.
In addition, more than 2.7 million pounds of air freight moved through Southwest Florida International Airport in January 2015, a decrease of 4.8 percent compared to January 2014.
Homeless Continuum of Care awarded $2M
The Lee County Homeless Continuum of Care was awarded $2,061,821 in federal funds to provide housing and services for homeless Lee County residents.
Ten programs will receive renewal grant awards, and one is a new program for permanent housing.
SalusCare will receive renewal funding for a transitional housing program, a rental subsidy program and three permanent housing programs.
Community Assisted and Supported Living will receive renewal funding for two rental subsidy programs and two permanent housing programs.
The Lee County Department of Human Services will receive renewal funding for the Homeless Management Information System, which coordinates data and reporting for all funded agencies.
The Salvation Army will receive a new program award, which was created by reallocating supportive service program dollars to a newly-designed rapid rehousing program, which will permanent house eligible families.
