Caloosahatchee Regional Park announces upcoming programs
Caloosahatchee Regional Park, at 18500 N. River Road, Alva, presents the following:
– Baby Animals Preschool Program: 10-11:30 a.m. April 1
Preschoolers will learn the names of animal babies, play games, sing songs and make a craft to learn about animal babies. Meet at 19130 N. River Road. Cost is $5 per preschooler; parking fee is required. Registration is required.
– Guided Nature Walk: 9-11 a.m. April 4 and 21
Join park staff on a stroll through natural plant communities. Participants should be able to walk approximately one and a half miles. Dress appropriately and bring a water bottle. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Free with paid parking. Limit of 25 participants; groups call ahead.
– Oxbow Kayak Clinic: 9-11 a.m. April 9
Learn basic techniques of paddling and then you use your new skills. Paddle the oxbow islands of the Caloosahatchee for a two-hour guided and informational tour. Perfect for all ages and abilities. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. All kayaking equipment is provided; bring water, sunscreen, binoculars, clothing and shoes that can get wet. Meet at 19130 N. River Road. Cost is $25. Registration is required.
– Cypress Creek Kayak Tour:?9-11 a.m. April 16
Slow-paced paddle great for all experience levels. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. All kayaking equipment is provided; bring water, sunscreen, binoculars, clothing and shoes that can get wet. Meet at 19130 N. River Road. Cost is $25. Registration required.
– Bird House Project: 9-11 a.m. April 18
Celebrate Earth Day by painting bird houses at the park, then find a spot at the park to hang your masterpiece. Open to all ages. Cost is $5 and covers a small birdhouse and materials; parking fee is required. Registration is required.
– Caloosahatchee to Hickey’s Creek Kayak Trip:?9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 30
Trip begins and ends at the Caloosahatchee Regional Park. Guided tour travels along the Great Calusa Blueway. Paddle an hour and a half to Hickey’s Creek Mitigation Park, eat lunch and stretch legs on a hike before paddling back to Caloosahatchee. Best for paddlers with some kayaking experience and/or in good physical condition for a five-mile roundtrip paddle. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. All kayaking equipment is provided; bring water, lunch, sunscreen, binoculars, clothing and shoes that can get wet. Meet at 19130 N. River Road. Cost is $40 per person. Registration is required.
