Local woman charged with stabbing attack on deputy

A deputy with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office is recuperating from an injury she received last week when she and another officer were dispatched to a disturbance in Lehigh Acres during the morning of March 23. Cpl.
Cpl. Racquel Shott was stabbed in the leg and was released from an area hospital the following day.
The deputies were responding to a disturbance at 706 Arianne Court in Lehigh, the home of the suspect, who was identified as Tiffany Garcia, 26. She was charged with aggravated battery on an officer and assault on an officer, two felony charges.
She remains in the Lee County Jail today under bond of 250,000, according to Lee County jail records.
Cpl. Shott was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital and Garcia was taken to Lehigh Regional Memorial Hospital, where she was treated and then booked into the Lee County Jail.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, Garcia is accused of attacking Cpl. Shott when she and the other deputy responded to the domestic disturbance.
During the disturbance, the Sheriff’s Office said Garcia lashed out with a knife and stabbed Deputy Shott in the leg and cut her hand.
At a first court appearance on March 25, a Lee County judge said it had been a miracle that Deputy Shott had survived and that she didn’t have to use deadly force.
The suspect will be back in court on April 27, according to Lee County jail records.
According to Sheriff’s reports, when deputies arrived at the house, they found a man and a woman arguing inside the home on Arianne Court.
A 911 call came into the Sheriff’s Office that someone was yelling and banging items around the house. Neighbors said several people live in the house.
Investigators with the Sheriff’s Office searched the suspect’s home and they also went door-to-door asking neighbors if they knew or had any information of what had happened to lead up to the incident.
