Life works when you do

By Staff | May 20, 2015

To the editor:

Last week I went to the 50th anniversary celebration of Lehigh Elementary School, where Toni Walker is the principal. I remember when I came to Lehigh Acres in 1962 and when this school was built, and the principals, teachers, staff and parents along the way.

It was and is today the most wonderful school and here’s why. Everyone at that school works together as a team creating “The Leader In Me”. That’s Toni’s motto.

Other principals had their own mottos. The thing that makes this the best school in our area is that the school is family. It’s like going home to your favorite place as a kid.

It’s a school where everyone gives 110 percent to make learning fun. It’s not a job. It’s a life passion. The wonderful people who have worked there and are working there now take each individual child under their wing to get them ready for middle school and then high school.

If you are not already involved in a school in Lehigh Acres or in your own area, take some time and volunteer. You won’t be sorry. And, you will be helping to change the world around you.

Parents, remember you are your children’s primary teacher. Stay involved in their school and with their friends.
