Holocaust survivor speaks at Lehigh Middle School
Holocaust survivor Steen Metz was the guest speaker on April 22 for Lehigh Acres Middle School’s social studies classes.
Metz was 8 when he and his family, who were living in Odense, Denmark, were packed into cattle cars and sent to the Theresienstadt Concentration Camp in what is now known as the Czech Republic.
Attendees were treated to a spaghetti and pizza dinner prior to the presentation.
District’s 2015 Middle School Teacher of the Year named
Lehigh Acres Middle School recently announced that teacher Miguel Teixeira was selected as the School District of Lee County’s 2015 Middle School Teacher of the Year in social studies.
Teixeira, who is a 2010 graduate of the University of Florida, teaches seventh-grade gifted civics and eighth-grade gifted and advanced U.S. history.
