Theater playing ‘Out of Order’
The Off Broadway Palm Theatre presents “Out of Order,” playing now through Aug. 1.
Richard Willey, a government junior minister, secretly plans to spend the evening with Jane Worthington, one of the opposition’s typists. When a body is discovered in the hotel’s window, chaos breaks loose and their rendezvous risks being made public.
Desperately trying to keep his secret, Richard calls his assistant for help. Add in a suspicious hotel manager, a cunning waiter, a very attentive private detective, an angry husband, a furious wife and an unconscious nurse and Richard’s got one unforgettable evening.

Lee County will hold an open house to view drawings of a proposed 30-acre park today, June 24, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Alva Community Center, 21471 N. River Road, Alva.
The property is off of Joel Boulevard, about 1.5 miles south of Palm Beach Boulevard.
The open house will be formatted as a drop-in for the community to interact with county staff.
Members of the public are invited to provide input to help shape the final design and suggestions on naming the new park.
Preliminary plans call for the park to contain various demonstration areas, where visitors will learn about urban farming techniques.
Additionally, the facility will contain shaded picnic areas, a playground, primitive and multi-use trails, a marsh area for wading birds, restrooms and parking.

– What to do if you suspect fraud, waste or financial mismanagement involving court-appointed guardians over elderly, minor children and incapacitated individuals

– How to review the civil and criminal public records of prospective tenants or employees, or when choosing a doctor or selecting a local contractor
– How to obtain copies of deeds and mortgages

The guest speaker is Karen Harty, a UF/IFAS Lee County master gardener and executive director of Grow A Gardener.
She will introduce attendees to plants that grow well during the hot and humid summers, as well as how to solarize garden beds.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office will host its Summer Youth Program in 10 schools this year.
The following schools are still in need of participants:

– Three Oaks Middle: July 13-16
– Oak Hammock Middle: July 27-30
– Gulf Middle: Aug. 3-6
The program is designed to help students learn more about crime prevention, intervention, legal consequences and accountability.
The LCSO is also holding a food drive campaign for local needy families. Each child is asked to donate food cans and will learn the importance of caring and being involved in thire community.

Youth will learn about herbs, seeds and worms, as well as how to make the following to take home: an herb garden, which can be entered in the fair next year; seed tape; a pomander; garden marker; shoebox worm bin; and more.
It is open to ages 9-18; a 4-H membership is not required.
Campers will work with dirt and concrete, so wear old clothes and shoes that can get soiled.
The camp fee is $10 and all supplies are included; lunch is not included, so bring a lunch.

Theater playing ‘Out of Order’
The Off Broadway Palm Theatre presents “Out of Order,” playing now through Aug. 1.
Richard Willey, a government junior minister, secretly plans to spend the evening with Jane Worthington, one of the opposition’s typists. When a body is discovered in the hotel’s window, chaos breaks loose and their rendezvous risks being made public.

Input sought on new park in Lee County
Lee County will hold an open house to view drawings of a proposed 30-acre park today, June 24, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Alva Community Center, 21471 N. River Road, Alva.
The property is off of Joel Boulevard, about 1.5 miles south of Palm Beach Boulevard.
The open house will be formatted as a drop-in for the community to interact with county staff.
Members of the public are invited to provide input to help shape the final design and suggestions on naming the new park.
Preliminary plans call for the park to contain various demonstration areas, where visitors will learn about urban farming techniques.
Additionally, the facility will contain shaded picnic areas, a playground, primitive and multi-use trails, a marsh area for wading birds, restrooms and parking.

Seminar on records scheduled for public
A seminar on public records will be held today, June 24, from 10 to 11:15 a.m. at the Lake Kennedy Senior Center, at 400 Santa Barbara Blvd., Cape Coral.
Clerk of Court Linda Doggett will guide attendees through the information available on the Lee County Clerk of Court website.
Participants will learn:
– What to do if you suspect fraud, waste or financial mismanagement involving court-appointed guardians over elderly, minor children and incapacitated individuals
– How to report guardianship fraud
– How to review the civil and criminal public records of prospective tenants or employees, or when choosing a doctor or selecting a local contractor
– How to obtain copies of deeds and mortgages
– How to pay traffic tickets on-line
– How to request postponement or excusal of jury duty
– How to obtain passport and marriage license information
– How to locate links to other local and state agencies

Spaghetti and meatballs dinner drive up set
A spaghetti and meatballs dinner drive up will be held on June 25 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Lehigh Regional Medical Center
The event will benefit Destiny Diaper Bank.

Hurricane Preparedness Seminars planned
Lee County Emergency Management, in coordination with partner agencies, will offer a series of public Hurricane Preparedness Seminars during June.
They will be held:

– June 25 at 6 p.m. at North Fort Myers Community Park Recreation Center, 2000 N. Recreation Park Way, North Fort Myers

Attendees will learn how to prepare for hurricane season, including information about emergency plans, disaster supply kits, evacuation zones and public shelters.

Free presentation on growing summer foods
The free presentation “Learn What Foods to Grow in Summer” will be held on June 27 from 2 to 4 p.m. at East County Regional Library, at 881 N. Gunnery Road.
The guest speaker is Karen Harty, a UF/IFAS Lee County master gardener and executive director of Grow A Gardener.
She will introduce attendees to plants that grow well during the hot and humid summers, as well as how to solarize garden beds.

Summer Youth Program in need of participants
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office will host its Summer Youth Program in 10 schools this year.
The following schools are still in need of participants:
– Alva Middle: July 6-9
– Three Oaks Middle: July 13-16
– Oak Hammock Middle: July 27-30
– Gulf Middle: Aug. 3-6
The program is designed to help students learn more about crime prevention, intervention, legal consequences and accountability.
The LCSO is also holding a food drive campaign for local needy families. Each child is asked to donate food cans and will learn the importance of caring and being involved in thire community.

Youth Gardening Camp Day scheduled
Lee County 4-H and Lee County Parks and Recreation will host a Youth Gardening Camp Day on July 9 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Lee County 4-H Building, at 2000 N. Recreation Park Way, North Fort Myers.
Youth will learn about herbs, seeds and worms, as well as how to make the following to take home: an herb garden, which can be entered in the fair next year; seed tape; a pomander; garden marker; shoebox worm bin; and more.
It is open to ages 9-18; a 4-H membership is not required.
Campers will work with dirt and concrete, so wear old clothes and shoes that can get soiled.
The camp fee is $10 and all supplies are included; lunch is not included, so bring a lunch.
Class size is limited.

Healthy Harvest Community Farms, at 607 Mirror Lakes Drive, hosts the following boot camps:
