Public invited to comment on LCSO’s services, performance

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office is scheduled for an on-site assessment as part of a program to achieve accreditation by verifying it meets professional standards.

The LCSO achieved accreditation in 1991 and re-accreditation in 1995, 1997, 2001, 2003, 2006, 2009 and 2012.

Administered by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, the program requires agencies to comply with state-of-the-art standards in four basic areas: policy and procedures, administration, operations and support services.

Agency employees and the public are invited to offer comments on the LCSO’s services and performance at a public information session on July 13 at 6 p.m. in Training Room 1209 at the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, at 14750 Six Mile Cypress Parkway, Fort Myers.

Those who cannot attend the session but would like to comment may contact (239) 477-1634 on July 13 from 1 and 3 p.m.

Telephone comments, as well as appearances at the session, are limited to 10 minutes and must address the LCSO’s ability to comply with CALEA’S standards; they are available for review at the LCSO.

For information, call accreditation manager Tanya Tanner at (239) 477-1034.

Those wishing to submit written comments can write: Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies Inc., 13575 Heathcote Blvd., Suite 320, Gainesville, Virginia 20155.

Those with disabilities who need special accommodations to attend the session should contact the Accreditation Office at (239) 477-1034 in advance.
