Fourth of July closings released
Cape Coral’s Red, White and Boom celebration will close the Cape Coral Bridge from 4:30 a.m. July 4 through 3 a.m. July 5.
Motorists are encouraged to use the Midpoint Memorial Bridge or the U.S. 41 and Business 41 bridges as alternate routes.
Lee County Department of Transportation has placed message boards out for motorists and will keep them in place through the holiday and the closing.
The Independence Day holiday will result in additional closures and schedule changes for Lee County operations.
The changes are as follows:
Animal services
Lee County Animal Services, at 5600 Banner Drive, Fort Myers, will be open regular hours July 3 but will be closed on July 4. The shelter will reopen July 6.
LeeTran
LeeTran will not run mainland bus or paratransit service on July 4, but will provide trolley transportation to and on Fort Myers Beach. The Park & Ride Trolley will run every 40 minutes starting at 7 a.m. at the free parking lot on Summerlin Square Drive. It travels to Bowditch Point Park, with the last drop-off on the mainland at 11:55 p.m.
The Beach Trolley will start service at 6:45 a.m. at Bowditch Park, running every 30 minutes to Lovers Key State Park. Service will end at 11:40 p.m. at Bowditch Park.

Libraries
All library locations will be closed on July 4 and each branch will resume regular operating hours on July 6.
Parks and recreation
Parks, pools and preserves will remain open on July 3 and through the weekend; administration offices and recreation centers will be closed on July 3. Recreation centers will resume normal operating hours on July 4; administration offices will resume normal operating hours on July 6.
Solid waste
There will be no change to residential collection schedules. All operations will be closed on July 4. The Household Chemical Waste Collection Facility, at 6441 Topaz Court, which is normally open on the first Saturday each month will be open instead from 8 a.m. to noon on July 11.
Residents are urged to recycle paper, plastic, metal and glass from holiday activities.
