Pet adoption specials available for July

With kitten season in full force, Lee County Domestic Animal Services is offering a special to anyone adopting a feline.

Kittens may be adopted for $30 and cats 6 months and older for $15 throughout July. Active and former military will receive a free cat or dog adoption.

The adoption package includes spay/neuter surgery, age-appropriate vaccinations, rabies vaccination and county license for pets over 3 months, 10-day pet health guarantee, microchip ID, feline leukemia and AIDS test for cats, heartworm test for dogs over 6 months, flea treatment and de-worming.

Adoption applications may be completed online; anyone interested in fostering pets may also obtain an application online.

Theater seeking ‘hero’ nominations

Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre is playing “Footloose” from July 9 to Aug. 15.

It is asking for the public’s help in nominating real-life heroes who have made a difference in the community for a summer campaign titled “Hero of the Week!”

Nominate a police officer, firefighter, EMT or someone serving in the military. It can even be a friend, family member or teacher who impacted someone’s life.

Nomination forms can be found at: www.broadwaypalm.com or at the box office.

The theatre will select one hero at the start of each week during the six-week run of “Footloose.” Each hero will receive four tickets, including dinner, a shout out from the stage, a meet and greet with the cast and four souvenir glasses with a beverage of their choice.

Performances are Wednesday through Sunday evenings, with selected matinees.
